EOTD (Olive Green)

This look was intended for a competition i took part in.But being a "likes" based event (on facebook) i don't have a big chance of winning ;) So instead i a posting it here as my "New year EOTD". Both colors used are from the Sleek Au naturale i divine palette. After looking at the pics i think i should have used a a 3rd color(crease , may be a brown)..... What do you think?
Anyways "Happy 2012". Wish all of you best of luck and 100% happiness for the coming new year :)

EOTD (Twilight)

I saw someone on youtube doing this eye of the day.And i really liked it.I have tried to recreate it as close to the original as possible but due to lack of exact color matches (and my level of skill), it looks slightly different from the intended look.I guess mine turned out more smokey and dark.

Skin Care Routine in Winter

It was a bit nippy for the last week or so but (as usual) i was sweating buckets today. It seems like the last few months of the year the weather in my fair city turns into a complete air head, turning hot, than cold and hot again at random. As frustrating it is to choose a wardrobe for this merry go round,it gets even more exhausting to have a consistent skin care routine.
My skin which is oily/combination the rest of the year, turns dry around my T-zone. And when i say dry, i literally mean peeling dry flakes.Which is such a headache because no matter what you do, you cant seem to get rid of them.Putting make up on when your skin is not getting the moisture it needs is a BAD idea.Because your foundation will not blend properly (you end up looking like a complete mess).
Now (granted) i haven't been in a truly cold climate for a long time but over the years i have certainly come up with a skin care regimen that works for my skin during the "winter" in Karachi.

L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in "845 TAWNY"

My favorite make up look is always a dark eye and nude lips so i am always on the look out for good nude lipsticks.L'oreal and Revlon are my go to brands when it comes to nude colors. The "color Riche " line by L'oreal is really great. Not only are the lipsticks affordable, creamy, soft but they also bear well with the weather in Karachi, travel and general abuses of regular usage
I recently purchased this color. Its called "Tawny", no.845At first glance it appears to be a brownish nude color but when you swatch it, the color is much less pigmented and is sort of a light pinkish brown.Either way i really like to wear it on a daily basis. It doesn't wash out my lips (which can happen with some nude colors). It can also be worn over or under other colors for a more pigmented look.
If you are going to buy this from a Mall ,L'oreal counter or another such place than you might have to pay 600 to 800 Rs (just a guess,as i haven't confirmed).I got this from a local cosmetic counter, the shop owner had about 10-12 colors and was selling them for 450/piece.I got it for Rs 400.

NOTD Color studio pro nail polish in "electrique"

I have found my favorite blue for this season :) Thanks to color studio professionals. Its bright ,its shimmery and its all you need to brighten up your manicure.I got this from the color studio kiosk @ Dolmen Mall Tariq Road. They have added some beautiful new colors to their collection since the last time i was there.I paid Rs 250 for this.Worth every penny in my opinion. The polish is just the right consistency ,the brush is not bad either. But as this is a bright color i would warn you not to use it without a base coat or there is a good chance that you'll end up with yellow nails.
The girl at the counter told me that they are having a promotion that if you buy 3 nail polishes than you'll get a lip gloss for free. And the lip glosses from color studio cost around Rs 300+ (if i am  not mistaken). I am not sure if this offer is exclusive to Dolmen Mall Tariq Road or applicable every where. So if anyone is interested :)

NYX JUMBO EYE PENCIL in 604 "MILK"

This is one of those products that is a "must have" in any make up kit.I have been trying to get my hands on this since the first time i read about jumbo eye pencils.Even though these only cost about 4.50$ a piece on the nyx website and many other online sites have them on sale, they still cost anywhere from 600 - 800 Rs if you buy them in Pakistan. My reasoning behind getting this particular color was that i wanted to get the most versatile one of the lot. These pencils are available in a multitude of colors but in my mind the ones that everyone should own are "milk" and "black bean.

POND'S MOISTURIZING COLD CREAM:

OLAY "AGE DEFYING" revitalizing eye gel

Eye creams are an undeniable necessity when it comes to a balanced beauty regimen. But they are the biggest hassle as well;) They are expensive enough to give the most adventurous shopaholics a pause and the product is in such a small quantity that at times it hardly lasts for a few months.
I must admit that for a long time i didn't think i needed an eye cream , instead i was content to use my night cream as a substitute.(that didn't work out so well). the skin around my eyes has always been very delicate and i was starting to worry about wrinkles, (because no matter what you do ,you are inevitably going to tug your eyes while applying or cleaning make up)The first product that i have been trying out is the "olay age defying revitalizing eye gel".

NOTD

We went to the mall few days back and i saw this "color studio professional" stall there.I am not familiar with the brand but the nail polishes looked really pretty so i got my self two.I really like both the polishes. The colors are funky.Apply really smooth.Dry fast. The thing i appreciated was that the color even though very bright ,easily comes off with nail polish remover. You don't have to spend an eternity trying to rub it off your nails. The brush as usual is the point of contention.A bit too wide for my tastes.
These are the pics of the green one i got.It is called "Mojito".

We are back

Hello everyone :)
We are back. FINALLY!! Sorry for the long delay. But with ramzan, Eid and my brother's wedding, time sort of got away from us. So lots to talk about:)
We have been trying lots of new stuff and cant wait to share all of the experiences we've had in the last two months or so.
Where to begin...
Quetta is always lots of fun.Home town , relatives ,old friends. What's not to like? But i must say , Ramzan in Quetta is a dull afair. The markets close early in Ramzan (have you heard of a bigger atrocity). No chand raat fun like Karachi (as our village is too far from the city and the law n order situation is sort of precarious right now). But Eid was great. Got to meet a lot of family members we hadn't seen in a year.Hung out with cousins.(Talked make up & clothes all night)
Lots of flowers in our garden this year from all the rain fall.

REVIEW OF SAEED GHANI'S UBTAN POWDER &SOME NEWS :)

Hello friends :)
This is a review for a product that i have used & bought multiple times.I am a big fan and its one of the Saeed Ghani products i totally guarantee , has worked for me.Its the "Saeed Ghani Ubtan Powder".But before i get into that , i have some news to share,
I am leaving for my month & a half long holiday in a few days.Going to visit family, spend Ramzan, Eid and (God willing) attend my brother's wedding :) so we are going to be incredibly busy for the duration of our stay and also due to the lack of dependable internet connection (unfortunately) the blog wont be updated till sometime after Eid :(
To those who follow us (or will follow us) "Thank you so so much" :)I would like to mention here that if you are a blogger and you follow us,we make every effort to return the favor but to make it easier for us if you could please mention your blog url in the comments(that would be so great)
Also the comments are on moderation so if they don't show up , don't worry .We will keep in touch on our mobiles and "approve" comments as soon as we see them.
The recipes from our blog have been transferred to a seperate blog so that you guys can see them more easily and comment or ask questions if you want.Link below. Please visit and "follow" (you'll make our day)
www.thefoodkorner.blogspot.com
(Phew) Thats all ...I think :)
So to the review.

What is ubtan exactly? (well ,i am not sure) to the best of my knowledge ,its a paste made :

Saeed Ghani's version comes in a powder. For my skin i use it as a paste along with rose water or milk. It helps in clearing marks and pigmentation and helps to prevent break outs.I use it almost every second or third day in the summer.Great for oily/combo skin.

Now if you have active acne, please use everything at your own risk.Because when my sister broke out really bad last year , her doctor told her to stop using all the beauty products she was putting on her face.
My experience with this product has been very positive. If you have used this product please share you experience in the comments below :)
Till next time.....

Random Haul

I went shopping again ;)Here is what i got:
Another Skinfood's bb cream.I had my eye on this one for a while now.Debating whether to get it or not ,as i have read in some blog reviews that its shine control is not very good. But eventually i decided to give it a try & see for my self.
Golden Rose liquid concealer in shade 02.Haven't tried anything other than lipsticks from Golden Rose so decided to give this a try. Rs 450
For my sister : Kryolan paint stick in 4w.I love going to the "Kryolan make up city".I pretty much want to buy every thing.
Fa deodorant in "Pink passion".Not a big fan of the Fa deo sprays but the roll on variety works well enough. One Biore nose patch, which i photographed upside down (lolz)
We'll be leaving for our vacations soon and a trip to Quetta to visit family is also in the pipeline.I always get dry hands and feet in Quetta.May be because of the low humidity>so i ended up getting a "Pond's moisturizing cold cream".
Added to our bangle collection:)
Some jewellery for my sisters.
Hope you enjoyed my haul.If you have any questions about price etc.Feel free to ask.I canot remember exactly what everything cost right now but i can look at the receipts :)
Till next time.....

BH cosmetics 6 color custom palette

About a month or so back , we won a twitter giveaway by BH cosmetics. The first time ever that we won something (happy dance) , although we do LOVE being a part of most giveaways :) Lets face it , we don't have the resources to try all the wonderful stuff that the beauty world has to offer. The one thing i really appreciated was the fact that we were pretty late in responding to their DM about us winning but the people at bh cosmetics were very gracious and the sent us our prize very quickly. In just a week we were holding our package in our hands so "Thank you bh cosmetics for the generosity" :) It is most appreciated.
Lets start with a little introduction, The six color custom palette is a palette in which you can mix & match the eye shades of your choice. The palette looks like this:
It has got six pans with magnetic based , to which your selected eye shades will stick.Bh cosmetics says on their website:
Mix and match 120 unique eyeshadow colors.Choose one of our luxurious 6 or 15 color magnetic palette cases.Refill your favorite colors with endless creative combinations.Longer lasting single color size measured at 1"/ 26mm.
The colors that we chose are:
BHCS02(cool shimmer series)

BHCS18(cool shimmer series)
BHCM08(cool matte series)
BHMM08(metallic matte series)
BHCM01(cool metallic series)
BHWM04(warm matte series)
My thoughts:
The palette itself is black in color and very sturdy.Came wrapped in bubble wrap so no damage. The eye shades themselves came in individual packaging as well.
Very good pigmentation, for both matte and shimmer colors.
I did not experience any fall out.
Blend really well.
A little goes a long way.
I haven't applied without primer so i cant say how long the staying power is that way but with primer will last a whole evening.

Below is an EOTD with this palette for which my (exam ridden) sister took some time away from her studies (gladly) to volunteer her right eye (lolz)

The whole palette costs 19.95$ on the Bh cosmetic's website , but they are having a sale at the moment. So if you are interested you can get this for 13.37$ .Additional single eye shadows (without the palette) cost 3.96$ each(2.65$ on sale).
Bh cosmetics delivers internationally.Visit their website @ http://www.bhcosmetics.com/
Do i recommand this product: Yes.If you are willing & able to order online.Go for it :)
Repurchase: Yes
Hope this was helpful :)
Till next time.............

REVLON colorstay Active Light Makeup with Softflex

Revlon is a very good make up brand.Over the years i have tried alot of stuff from Revlon. These days its not available in Pakistan(which is a shame) but sometimes you do get your hands on some products by chance somewhere.
I got this foundation about a month or so ago.And i have been in love with it since than.
I am not going to say anything bad about this product (lolz) so if you totally hate it than we have a difference of opinion.

  • I got it in Shade 02 "buff".
  • The 30 ml tube.
  • I don't have a problem with tubes but some people may consider this a con.
  • Cost Pkr Rs 250.The full size tube may cost more but i didn't ask(stupid me)
  • Its medium coverage(my kind of foundation)
  • Mattifying.
  • Glides on smooth.
  • Works brilliantly with face primer.
  • Blends well.
  • Stays in place for 5-6 hours.
  • Apply with fingers or foundation brush (both ways work well)
  • SPF 25

    Do i recommend it?
For any one with oily combination skin. 100%
    Repurchase?  Already restocked :)
    Till next time.....
